A magnitude 6.2 earthquake was recorded by Italy's INGV at 00:12 on Tuesday 2 June 2026 off the north-western Calabrian coast (province of Cosenza), felt across southern Italy from Palermo to Bari.

Magnitude 6.2, epicentre offshore about 22 km from Belmonte Calabro (CS), very deep hypocentre of around 250 km — hence felt over a vast area with limited surface effects. Initially estimated at 5.6, then revised upward.
Where it was felt
Clearly along Calabria's Tyrrhenian coast and across much of Sicily, from Messina to Palermo, with reports of a mild, prolonged movement also in the Agrigento area.
