Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, bringing the Ultra moniker to its foldable lineup for the first time. Positioned as the most advanced model in the new range, it joins the previously announced Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. Starting at $2,099, the Fold 8 Ultra introduces significant improvements in design, camera, and battery life.
A slimmer and more durable foldable design with an 8-inch display
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's thinnest foldable to date, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded. This achievement is made possible by a new 'Flex Titanium' display backing, which replaces plastic components with titanium for better reliability. The crease visibility has been greatly reduced compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, offering a more uniform viewing experience. The inner display is an 8-inch QXGA+ AMOLED 2X panel, while the outer display remains a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED 2X screen, both with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3000 nits. The cover glass has been upgraded to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 for enhanced protection.

The battery has received a substantial upgrade from 4400mAh to 5000mAh, a long-awaited improvement promising longer usage between charges. Samsung has introduced a new dual-path charging architecture that distributes power more evenly across the two cells, supporting 45W wired charging. 200MP camera system with dedicated telephoto lens
The camera setup is a highlight of the Fold 8 Ultra. Samsung equipped the device with a 200MP main sensor capable of full-resolution HDR, a 50MP ultra-wide camera (similar to the Galaxy S26 Ultra) with improved macro capabilities, and a dedicated 10MP telephoto lens. Among the Fold 8 series, the Ultra is the only model to feature a telephoto lens, making it the top choice for photography enthusiasts.
Android 17 with One UI 9 and Gemini Intelligence features
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be among the first devices to run Android 17 with Samsung's public One UI 9. Software highlights include Now Brief and Now Nudge, along with deep integration of Gemini Intelligence, enabling the assistant to interact with over 40 apps and services.
