In August 2024, a woman in New Jersey suffered second- and third-degree burns after the Casely power bank she was using to charge her phone caught fire and exploded while on her lap. The victim later died from complications related to her injuries. Another alarming event occurred in February 2026, when a 47-year-old woman was on an airplane when the power bank, connected to her phone, caught fire and exploded, causing first-degree burns. Incidents like these have prompted airlines to impose stricter limits on the use of power banks during flights.

Approximately 429,200 units of these wireless power banks, identified as Casely "Power Pod" with MagSafe, were sold. These devices, available in various colors and patterns, were priced between $30 and $70. The models affected by the recall have the model number E33A and were purchased from Amazon.com, the Casely website, and other online retailers between March 2022 and September 2024. Casely is directly contacting all known purchasers. Anyone owning a Casely Power Pod is urged to stop using it immediately and contact Casely for a free replacement or a $60 store credit. It is crucial not to discard affected units in household waste but to contact your local hazardous waste collection center for disposal assistance.
