The Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S claims to reduce room temperature by up to 6 degrees Celsius, but in real-world testing we only achieved a 2-degree drop. Despite falling short of the bold promise, our hands-on review shows that this unit delivers superior comfort compared to a standard fan, thanks to a combination of powerful airflow and fine misting that genuinely cools the air.

We tested the 765S on a hot, humid day in a room of about 20 square meters. After just 10 minutes of operation with misting enabled, the thermometer recorded a 1-degree drop. Over several hours, the temperature dipped further, stabilizing at a 2-degree difference from the initial reading. While this is less than the manufacturer's claim, the improved comfort was noticeable, especially during the hottest afternoon hours.

Ultrasonic misting technology produces a fine 17-micron mist

The cooling secret lies in the ultrasonic atomizers, which generate an ultra-fine mist of 17 microns. This allows water to evaporate quickly into the air, removing heat without wetting furniture or creating excessive humidity. During testing, we sat just one meter away and felt no light rain sensation, only a pleasantly cool breeze. This is a significant advantage over traditional evaporative coolers, which often leave surfaces damp.

The 6-liter water tank provides over 24 hours of misting autonomy

One of the standout features is the impressive battery life. The 6-liter tank, when misting is enabled, easily lasts 24 hours or more. In our extended sessions of 4-5 hours, the water level dropped only slightly, allowing prolonged use without constant refills. This makes it ideal for overnight use or in an office where you don't want to interrupt work to refill.

Maximum noise of 65 dB at top speed is comparable to normal conversation

Despite its power, the fan remains surprisingly quiet. At medium speed (level 2), the breeze is felt from 4 meters away, but the noise is minimal, suitable for conversations, work, or TV. Even at maximum speed (level 12), our sound meter recorded 65 dB directly in front, comparable to a normal conversation. With misting active, the noise increase is almost imperceptible, allowing it to run all night without disturbing sleep.

App and remote control offer flexibility but remote design could be improved

Setup is straightforward: remove the base, secure it with the included screw, and then use the Dreo app for Wi-Fi pairing. The app is clear and intuitive, though main controls are on the home screen; advanced settings require tapping into the fan menu. The included remote is functional but feels cheap with basic plastic; a single speed button forces you to cycle through all levels, which is inconvenient. Adding up and down buttons would be a welcome improvement.

Ambient light color indicates humidity and adds a stylish touch

A distinctive feature is the ambient light at the bottom of the tank. Beyond aesthetics, it can indicate relative humidity: blue for over 70%, orange for under 30%, green for comfortable levels. Alternatively, you can choose a fixed color or modes like breath and cycle, which we enjoyed during a social gathering, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

Limited 90-degree oscillation is the only real compromise

The only downside in our test was the limited 90-degree oscillation. For many rooms this is sufficient, but if you're used to wider oscillation like the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool with 350 degrees, this can feel restrictive. However, for typical use in a medium-sized room, 90 degrees is adequate to distribute airflow effectively.

In conclusion, the Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S doesn't meet the 6-degree claim but delivers real, consistent cooling with exceptional autonomy and quiet operation. If you seek a more effective alternative to traditional fans without going to full air conditioning, this model is an excellent compromise, especially in dry, hot environments. At around $150, it offers good value for its performance and build quality. For those wanting more intense cooling, you might also check out related innovations like the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra (just kidding, that's a phone) or the Microsoft Paint Doom monitor, which are unrelated to cooling.
