According to recent leaks, Samsung is preparing a major update for the Galaxy S Ultra series, targeting what has long been considered its primary weakness, namely battery life. The new cells are rumored to reach 6000 mAh capacity, accompanied by an improved fast charging system. This change could redefine expectations for Android flagships in 2027.

6000 mAh capacity to compete with rivals

Rumors indicate that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 6000 mAh battery, a significant increase from the 5000 mAh of its predecessor. This leap would allow the device to surpass competitors like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pixel 11 Pro, which top out at 4850 mAh and 5100 mAh respectively. The higher energy density is made possible by new cell assembly techniques, similar to those used in electric vehicle battery packs. This marks a sharp improvement over previous generations' 45W wired and 15W wireless. Fast wireless charging will require the new Samsung EP-N5900 charger, which uses the Qi2 standard with extended power profile.
