Samsung appears to be getting closer to launching a new type of wireless earbuds, tentatively called the Galaxy Buds On or Galaxy Buds Able. Exclusive images obtained from a Samsung app show the innovative design of these devices, featuring a clip-on form that attaches to the ear. The illustrations depict the earbuds individually and as a pair, along with a charging case that includes an LED status indicator on the front.

A clip-on design that stands out from traditional earbuds

Each earbud has a rounded module at one end and a flatter, disc-shaped module at the other, connected by a curved arm designed to wrap around the outer ear. The rounded module features an accent on part of its outer edge, while the flatter module has a complete accent ring around it. This configuration suggests the rounded part sits near the ear canal, while the flat part rests behind the ear to keep the earbud secure.

Open-ear air conduction technology, not bone conduction

Earlier rumors hinted at bone conduction, but the images indicate open-ear air conduction technology, also known as Open Wireless Stereo (OWS). Unlike bone conduction devices that transmit sound through the skull, OWS earbuds use conventional speaker drivers positioned just outside the ear canal, directing sound waves inward. This keeps the ear canal open, allowing users to hear both their audio and surrounding sounds—ideal for use on the go or during exercise.

Comparison with existing competitors in the market

Several manufacturers already offer wireless earbuds with similar designs, including the Motorola Moto Buds Loop, Huawei FreeClip, and Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. Samsung enters a segment that is already populated but with the advantage of its Galaxy ecosystem. The images suggest an elegant finish and quality materials, consistent with the brand's standards.

Expected launch alongside the Galaxy S26 FE

Samsung has not yet officially announced the Galaxy Buds On/Able or confirmed the audio technology used. According to rumors, the debut could take place alongside the Galaxy S26 FE later this year. While waiting for the official unveiling, the images offer a concrete look at what could be Samsung's next step in wireless earbuds. For those following Samsung's news, another interesting product is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, already available for preorder.
