Schlage has officially announced that the Sense Pro smart deadbolt, first showcased at CES 2025, will launch in the United States and Canada on June 29, 2026. Priced at $399 in the US and $549 in Canada, the lock will be available on Amazon, The Home Depot, Lowe's, and other select retailers. This smart lock is designed to offer a seamless and secure entry experience.
The standout feature of the Sense Pro is its hands-free unlocking capability, powered by Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology. By adding a digital key to the Apple Wallet app, users can simply approach their door with an iPhone or Apple Watch and the door will unlock automatically. Schlage explains that the system calculates speed, trajectory, and motion to unlock precisely as you reach the door. No need to pull out your phone or use a physical key.
While the lock lacks a traditional keyhole, it includes a keypad for code entry. Built-in Wi-Fi enables remote management through the Schlage Home app. You can lock or unlock the door from anywhere, create up to 250 unique access codes, set timed auto-lock schedules, and customize lock settings. The lock is also compatible with Apple's Home app via Matter over Thread, allowing integration with smart home hubs like Apple TV 4K (2nd and 3rd generation), HomePod (2nd generation), and HomePod mini.

Compatibility for hands-free unlocking requires an Apple Watch Series 6 or later (excluding Apple Watch SE) running watchOS 11.5 or later, or an iPhone 11 or later (excluding iPhone SE 2, iPhone SE 3, iPhone 16e, and iPhone 17e) running iOS 18.5 or later. The lock uses disposable batteries that last up to six months, with a USB-C port for temporary emergency power.
Schlage also confirmed that support for Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet will arrive later this year as part of Aliro compatibility. This expands the lock's ecosystem reach, appealing to a broader audience beyond Apple users.

This launch comes amid a broader trend in the smart home industry. As explored in our article on Elites, Cults and Matchmaking, Silicon Valley is preparing for extremes, but innovations like the Sense Pro show technology focused on daily convenience. Similarly, the fact that over a fifth of Steam Next Fest demos use generative AI (detailed in this article) reflects how advanced algorithms are becoming ubiquitous, even in smart locks.
For more on UWB technology, Wikipedia provides an excellent overview. The Schlage Sense Pro marks a significant milestone in smart locks, combining hands-free convenience with robust security features.
