A large-scale operation conducted by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Milan has led to the arrest of six people, with sensitive data stolen from major Italian strategic databases. Among the stolen data is fiscal, health, and personal information of various public figures, including high-profile politicians, law enforcement members, and even academic personalities. The criminal organization's targets also included prominent figures such as the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, government officials, and political party leaders.

The stolen data included detailed health information, confidential fiscal data, and personal communications, including private emails. The hackers, through a sophisticated system of illegal access, managed to penetrate the databases of strategic institutions such as Sdi, Serpico, INPS, and the Civil Registry, compromising the security of thousands of individuals. The stolen information was subsequently sold on the deep web for economic and political purposes, with the intent to exploit such data for blackmail or to gain commercial advantages.
Those arrested, including hackers, IT consultants, and law enforcement members, used their knowledge to illegally access government systems and steal strategic information. The investigations, which involved searches on a national and international scale, now aim to clarify the organization's ramifications and identify all individuals involved. Authorities are also assessing the possible involvement of other people linked to the organization, both in Italy and abroad.
Sensitive Data Stolen, a Blow to National Security?
This operation once again highlights the vulnerabilities of Italian public institutions' computer systems and the importance of greater cybersecurity to protect sensitive data. The need to invest in advanced security infrastructure and strengthen access control protocols is essential to prevent future attacks and ensure the protection of the country's critical information.
