After raising prices on all Macs and iPads worldwide last month, Apple extended the increases on Friday to more products and services. The Cupertino company raised the cost of Apple Music and Apple One plans in several countries, iCloud+ storage plans in eight nations, and iPhone models in Japan. In the United States, only Apple Music and Apple One saw changes, with iCloud+ and iPhones untouched for now.

Apple Music now costs $11.99 per month

The monthly Apple Music subscription rose from $10.99 to $11.99 in the U.S., with proportional increases in Europe, Australia, and other markets. The Apple One bundle, which includes Apple Music, iCloud+, Apple TV+, and other services, also went up by roughly $2 per month. This adjustment follows the logic of aligning prices with rising operational costs, driven by music licensing fees and cloud infrastructure expenses.

iCloud+ becomes more expensive in eight countries

iCloud+ storage plans increased in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. The average rise is between 15% and 20%; for instance, the 2TB plan in Italy jumped from €9.99 to €11.99. Apple cites enhanced cloud services as the reason, but users complain about higher fees without a corresponding feature boost.

iPhone prices rise in Japan

In Japan, Apple raised prices on all iPhone models by ¥5,000 to ¥15,000 depending on the variant. The move is likely tied to the weak yen against the dollar, which had squeezed Apple's margins in the country. The iPhone 16 Pro Max now costs ¥199,800, approximately €1,100 at current exchange rates.

A global tech price hike context

Apple is not alone in raising prices. While giants like Meta invest $10 billion in data center deals with Anthropic, the tech sector faces rising component and logistics costs. Additionally, Chinese AI competition, as described in China's new AI leap — Europe risks being left without a proprietary stack, pressures Western companies to optimize revenues.
