Apple has finally announced the timeline for submitting claims related to the Siri AI delay lawsuit. According to a court document filed today by Apple's legal team, eligible customers will be able to start filing their claims on September 21, 2026, with a window of about 90 days closing on December 21 of the same year. The settlement, worth $250 million, was announced in May and provides for payments of up to $95 per eligible device.

Official notification to potential beneficiaries is expected to be sent on September 21, as proposed by Apple's lawyers. However, these dates still require final approval from the judge, who has set the final approval hearing for February 24, 2027. This means that actual payments will not begin until next year, but consumers can already take action by the end of 2026 to secure their reimbursement.

The Reasons Behind the Lawsuit and Siri's Promised Features

The dispute stems from the fact that in June 2024, Apple previewed new Siri capabilities powered by Apple Intelligence, including understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. In an example shown during the presentation, a user asked Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans, drawing from data in the Mail and Messages apps. These features were widely advertised by Apple through presentations, web campaigns, and a TV commercial starring actress Bella Ramsey.

In March 2025, however, the company announced a delay in the launch of the personalized version of Siri, triggering a class action lawsuit for false advertising. Apple later reached an agreement to close the matter, stating it wanted to focus on innovation and product quality. Only in June 2026, during WWDC, did the company finally introduce Siri AI, the new voice assistant currently available in beta on iOS 27, with a public release expected in September.

Eligibility Requirements and Involved iPhone Models

To be eligible to submit a claim, you must reside in the U.S. and have purchased a specific iPhone model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Eligible devices include iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. It is not necessary to still physically possess the device at the time of the claim, but proof of purchase or the serial number may be required. Exact requirements will be outlined on the settlement website, which is not yet live.

Compensation Amounts and How to Submit a Claim

Under the terms of the settlement, each person who files a valid claim will receive a payment of $25 per device. This amount could increase up to $95 if the total number of claims is lower than anticipated. The claims website with an online form is expected to go live later this year. For now, no action is required from consumers, who will have to wait for the site to go live and for official communications.
