Summer is nearing its end, and retailers have already unveiled their first batch of Labor Day sales, with the holiday set for September 7. This year, experts recommend shopping early because many prices have increased. Brands like Apple and Nintendo have raised their price tags, so it's wise to take advantage of current deals. The Nintendo Switch 2, for instance, will see a $50 price hike starting September 1. If you don't own one yet, you can grab it now for $449 at Amazon, but stock isn't guaranteed to last. Amazon has also recently increased prices on Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle devices, but the ongoing sales help offset those increases. Interestingly, Amazon isn't promoting the sale on its sale page, but here you'll find the entire Echo and Echo Show lineup discounted from $69.

The back-to-school season is winding down, and if you're still shopping for a laptop, the 2026 Dell XPS 13 at $699 on Dell is a recommended pick by our senior computing writer Tony Polanco. Students can get it for $599 after verifying their student status at Dell. Below are some of my favorite Labor Day deals to shop ahead of September 7.

Top deals on shoes and apparel

I've been a Skechers fan for years. Besides being super comfortable, there's a Skechers sneaker for almost any style. Amazon is having a massive Skechers sale, including sneakers and apparel for men, women, and children, with prices starting at $24. Adidas is also on sale at Amazon, with deals on clothing and sneakers from $13.

Consumer electronics take center stage

Amazon devices are on sale from $69. The company recently raised prices on Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle by up to 61%. The basic Echo Dot, for example, now costs $79 (was $49). The Labor Day sale discounts Echo devices from $69, and you can also find Fire TV, Ring, and Kindle devices from $19. For audio lovers, Best Buy has Bluetooth speakers from JBL, Marshall, Ultimate Ears, and Bose starting at $53.

Laptops and tablets for students and professionals

The Dell XPS 13 (2026) is a serious rival to the MacBook Neo. The base model packs a 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen display, Core i5-320 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. Starting at $699, it's a budget laptop worth considering. In our review, we called it the best budget Windows laptop right now. Students can get it for $599. For tablets, T-Mobile offers select models for as low as $0 with a new Tablet Essentials or higher plan. The iPad (A16) costs $199, while the Galaxy Tab A11+ 5G and Revvl Tab 2 are free. The Tablet Essentials plan costs $15/month and includes 5GB of high-speed data per month.

Gaming and home comfort deals

The Nintendo Switch 2 Choose Your Game Bundle is available for $499. Unfortunately, Nintendo has confirmed a $50 price increase starting September 1. Now is the time to pick up a Switch 2 if you haven't already. The bundle includes a console with an 8-inch HD display, better battery, larger and more comfortable Joy-Cons, improved performance, and even a mouse mode for PC-style gaming. For mattresses, the DreamCloud Classic is on sale for $699 for a queen, with a 365-night sleep trial and forever warranty. The Nectar Premier, voted best memory foam mattress by our testers, costs $999 for a queen, also with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty.

For outdoor gear and apparel, REI has up to 50% off on end-of-summer clearance. Lululemon offers items from $14. Additionally, Amazon has up to 45% off on Keurig, Samsung, and Garmin products. Take advantage of these deals before they sell out, as stock is limited. For more offers, check out our ultimate back-to-school guide and Tom's Guide Savings Squad homepage.
