The drone market has never been hotter. With the arrival of the DJI Lito 1, the new Lito series replaces the older Mini lineup, offering features once reserved for professional models. This 249-gram drone positions itself as entry-level but introduces a long-awaited feature for beginners: 5-lux omnidirectional obstacle sensing. Two sensors, one on top and one on the bottom, provide 360-degree collision avoidance. While not entirely new, this is the first time it has been integrated into such an affordable and lightweight drone. The Lito 1 is designed for first-time pilots but does not compromise on solid performance.

Compact design and long battery life

Folded dimensions of 5.67 x 3.70 x 2.44 inches (144x94x62 mm) and unfolded 7.20 x 9.88 x 3.11 inches (183x251x79 mm) make the Lito 1 highly portable. The light gray plastic build is sturdy, typical of DJI build quality. Weighing 8.78 ounces (249 grams), it falls under the 250-gram threshold, avoiding many flight restrictions. The 2590 mAh battery promises 36 minutes of flight, but real-world tests show about 24 minutes before the automatic Return to Home triggers. With the Fly More Combo bundle that includes three batteries, you get over an hour of flight time. The RC-N3 controller is basic but functional: it holds a smartphone for the live feed and settings.

Smart features for beginners and experts

Quick Takeoff allows takeoff even without full GPS lock, ideal in urban areas. The Return to Home system not only brings the drone back but also tracks the takeoff path during the final stage, reducing GPS dependency. Flight modes include Cine, Normal, and Sport, with top speeds up to 40 mph (64 km/h) in Sport mode. Video transmission reaches 9.3 miles (15 km) under ideal conditions (CE up to 5 miles/8 km) with no noticeable latency. Intelligent modes like ActiveTrack, QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, and Panorama simplify capturing professional clips. Subject tracking is made safer by obstacle sensing. A minor drawback is the lack of internal storage: a microSD card is required for photos and videos. However, Wi-Fi 6 QuickTransfer allows downloading files to a smartphone at 50 MB/s via the DJI Fly app.

Image quality above expectations

Despite the 1/2-inch 48MP sensor, the Lito 1 delivers good photo and video quality. Video goes up to 4K at 100fps with a normal color profile that requires no grading, perfect for beginners. Photos in JPEG and Raw offer flexibility. The fixed f/1.8 aperture and 26.2mm equivalent focal length ensure sharpness from 4 meters to infinity. Image quality surpasses many drones in the same price range. For starters, the Lito 1 is a long-term investment before moving to more advanced models.

In summary, the DJI Lito 1 combines an accessible price, omnidirectional obstacle sensors, and respectable image quality. It removes collision anxiety for newcomers while offering performance that satisfies even demanding users.
