According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will release the first public betas of iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and other updates this week. This aligns with the July timeframe Apple had promised for public beta availability.
Public betas of iOS 27 arrive as promised in July
Apple had announced that public betas would be available in July, and now Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirms the rollout will begin in the coming days. Developer betas have been available since June, but the general public will soon be able to test the new features. Among compatible devices, iPhone 15 Pro and later models can try the flagship feature, Siri AI, which requires joining a waitlist. Apple aims to gradually manage server load for AI processing.
Siri AI is the key new feature for iPhone 15 Pro and newer
Siri AI leverages artificial intelligence to deliver more contextual responses and improved natural language understanding. Owners of iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 can join the waitlist directly from Settings to enable the feature. Apple states that AI processing occurs on-device for privacy, but complex tasks may use secure cloud servers. Besides Siri AI, iOS 27 introduces end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging in beta, a new Suggested Places feature in Maps based on location history, and an updated Pride Luminance wallpaper with dynamic color effects.

Other updates included in the iOS 27 public beta
The public beta also includes child safety improvements with enhanced parental controls to restrict sensitive content. Apple Intelligence expands with assisted writing and automatic summarization. Beta users should note that some features may be unstable, as is typical for trial versions. Apple recommends installing the beta on a secondary device to avoid data loss. Participants can provide feedback through the Feedback app.
