Samsung today unveiled its latest foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the new Galaxy Z Fold8. The latter introduces a design that closely resembles the anticipated foldable iPhone expected to launch this September. With a wider, squarer form factor, Samsung appears to have beaten Apple to the punch, offering an experience akin to using an iPad mini.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Technical Specifications
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a 6.5-inch cover display when closed and an 8-inch internal screen when opened. Both are OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is just 4.1mm thick when unfolded, a record for the category. The camera system includes three sensors: a 200-megapixel main lens, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 30x Space Zoom. There are also two selfie cameras, one on the cover and one on the main display.

The New Passport-Style Design of the Galaxy Z Fold8
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 offers a 7.6-inch display when open and a 5.5-inch cover screen. Its "passport-style" form factor is wider and less tall than previous Samsung foldables, with an aspect ratio that makes it feel similar to using an iPad mini. This configuration is ideal for watching videos or running two apps side by side, and it provides a clear preview of what the upcoming Apple foldable might feel like. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and offer up to 16GB of RAM. The Galaxy Z Flip8 completes the lineup with a 6.9-inch foldable display and a 4.1-inch cover screen, maintaining the clamshell design.

New Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9
Alongside the smartphones, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9. The titanium Watch Ultra2 has a 47mm display, while the Watch9 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes. Both feature bioelectrical impedance analysis for body composition, heart rate tracking, and sleep apnea detection, mirroring capabilities found on the Apple Watch. The new devices are available for pre-order starting today on Samsung's website.
