The new smart download client picks the fastest server
The announcement came yesterday evening within the Xbox Insider Program, initially for Alpha Skip-Ahead members. The update introduces an intelligent client that, at the start of a download, checks the availability of content servers and tests the connection speed to each one. The system automatically selects the fastest server and periodically recalculates the connection to maintain optimal performance. According to the release notes, general stability improvements are also included, along with a fix for downloads that sometimes hang.

Tests were conducted on both Xbox Series X and PC, including portable devices like the Xbox Ally. In rural network conditions, where bandwidth is limited, the client allowed full utilization of the available connection.
