In the third season of Silo, the Apple TV+ adaptation of Hugh Howey's dystopian saga, we jump back 352 years to witness the beginning of the greatest engineering project ever conceived. At the heart of the story are Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zuckerman) and journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick), whose relationship developed entirely naturally.

A spontaneous spark on set

Zuckerman and Henwick said they did not actively work to build their on-screen chemistry. 'It was just there from the beginning,' Zuckerman told Space.com. 'We hung out, but not to generate chemistry. I was very lucky to have a teammate like that.' Henwick added '

we share the same taste and work ethic. When you go on a journey this big with someone, shooting every day for four months, you have each other's backs with respect and excitement. I'm not the kind of actor who could fake it.'

Helen Drew: a deeply real character

For Jessica Henwick, playing Helen came almost naturally. 'I drew from my memory of working on the school newspaper at 14 and my tendency to interrogate everyone,' she said. 'I feel a strong affinity with journalists. I love asking questions and understanding why. Helen is very close to me.' Her performance adds depth to a key character involved in the plot to save humanity, helming a network of bunkers in Georgia.

Sets without green screens

The impressive sets of Silo helped the actors immerse themselves fully. Zuckerman confessed: 'I am usually a terrible set guest, but here I pause to marvel at the scale of the operation. The drawers actually open and you are not looking at a blue screen. You live the alternate reality as close as possible.' Henwick, used to fantasy and sci-fi with green screens, appreciated: 'I remember the first day visiting the stairs. It is one of the biggest sets I have ever worked on.' Produced by Graham Yost, the series streams on Apple TV+.

In the evolving streaming landscape, Silo stands as a benchmark for sci-fi television. For those following Apple news, the iOS 26.6 update brought hundreds of security fixes, but the real entertainment remains on Apple TV+ with this third season.
