Philips Hue expands its smart lighting lineup with three new products designed to enhance home entertainment. The company unveiled the Play Table Lamp, the Play Floor Lamp Large, and new candle bulbs featuring Matter over Thread integration. These devices offer synchronized lighting effects that respond to games, movies, music, and TV shows, taking connected homes to the next level.
The new Play lamps resemble the existing Hue Signe models, with a tall, linear design that casts light onto the wall or surface behind them. The Play Table Lamp, standing 23.6 inches (60 cm), is perfect for placing next to a television to create ambient glow. The Play Floor Lamp Large, at 53 inches (135 cm), illuminates larger rooms with dynamic effects. Both support Chromasync for precise color matching and can be synced using the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box or the Hue Sync TV and desktop apps. This extends screen colors beyond the display, immersing viewers in the action.

More affordable pricing for entertainment lighting
A notable aspect is the more accessible price compared to previous gradient lamps. The Play Table Lamp is priced at $80, while the Play Floor Lamp Large costs $150. This pricing strategy makes synchronized entertainment lighting available to a wider audience.
In addition, Philips Hue introduced new candle bulbs that stand out for their Matter over Thread integration, the universal smart home protocol. These bulbs feature full-spectrum daylight technology with a color temperature range up to 20,000K, mimicking natural daylight throughout the day. They support millions of Hue colors for personalized scenes. Compared to the previous version, they are 40% more energy efficient and can dim to 0.2%. The price is $110 for a two-pack.

Smart lighting is becoming increasingly integrated with home entertainment. Previously, we saw how Matter 1.6 introduced NFC setup and cross-ecosystem sharing, and now Philips Hue leverages Matter to ensure compatibility across platforms. Additionally, voice control and app-based management complement fitness challenges like those from Apple Watch (read about the Apple Watch Activity Challenge for International Day of Yoga).
