Summer Game Fest 2026: Most Anticipated Games from Indie to Triple-A

[2026-06-17] Author: Risoluto Redazione

The 2026 edition of Summer Game Fest delivered unforgettable moments, with a lineup rich in titles that cater to every type of gamer. From the relaxing atmosphere of D-Topia to the frantic battles of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the return of the Control franchise with Resonant, the event proved that the gaming industry never stops innovating. In this article, we share our impressions of the most interesting games we played during the showcase.

In a landscape dominated by shooters and epic adventures, D-Topia stands out as an oasis of calm. Aesthetically inspired by Portal, with white robots and muted colors, this puzzle game transports us to a seemingly perfect utopia. During the brief demo at SGF, we explored the first puzzles, based on simple block moving and basic arithmetic. But beneath the surface lies a mystery: the protagonist arrives without memories, and the guiding robots seem to hide something. The vision system allows players to see what others cannot, helping to communicate with damaged robots. Player choices will affect the story, promising replayability. D-Topia releases on July 14 and promises to be a meditative experience with an unsettling undercurrent.

Resonant: The Return of Control

Among the most anticipated games, Resonant continues the story of Control, but this time we control Dylan, Jesse Faden's brother. The plot sees Jesse missing and Dylan dealing with the Hiss threat. Compared to its predecessor, combat is more melee-focused, with a system reminiscent of Devil May Cry: you can juggle enemies in the air, slam them to the ground, and combine paranormal attacks. Abilities like massive jumps and levitation make exploration fluid and dynamic, recalling Sucker Punch's Infamous series. The demo showcased a transforming New York, with a faster pace than Control. A dive into chaos that made us want to revisit the first chapter.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom unveiled a more substantial demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, releasing on September 25. The gameplay is an evolution of the series: Japanese environments are meticulously recreated, but now teem with more aggressive Genma demons. Parrying and dodging are key to speeding up combat, and issen counters reward skilled players. Demon arms offer unique abilities: twin daggers that drain life and a wind-powered spear for crowd control. The boss Rashogan, with chain-like limbs, will challenge even veterans. Side quests and NPCs add depth to the game world.

Among Us Story: On Guard

For Among Us fans, Innersloth presented Among Us Story: On Guard, a narrative-driven detective adventure. In the short demo, playable on Nintendo Switch 2 as well, you play as a crew member trying to prove your innocence by gathering evidence. Minigames and sabotage mechanics are reimagined for a more guided experience, though it's unclear if the formula can sustain a full game. It will launch on PC and Switch at a later date.

Star Wars Galactic Racer

Finally, a surprise: Star Wars Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games (ex-Criterion, creators of Burnout). The title promises adrenaline-fueled space racing with a focus on destruction and speed. We are not racing experts, but the touch of the Burnout creators is evident. A full preview is coming soon.

Summer Game Fest 2026 confirmed the variety and quality of the gaming landscape. As the industry evolves, AI tools are also changing game development, as demonstrated by projects like Sakana Marlin, capable of writing strategic reports in hours.
