With the theatrical debut of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Insomniac Games has released an update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5 that adds two free costumes and significant technical enhancements for the Pro console. Players can now download at no extra cost two skins: one inspired by the film and another with a cel-shaded anime aesthetic, further expanding the game's already extensive wardrobe.
Two free costumes: movie-accurate and cel-shaded
The Brand New Day costume faithfully reproduces Tom Holland's suit from the movie, featuring subtle textures and colors reminiscent of classic comics and animated series. The second costume adopts a bold cel-shaded design with vibrant colors and a larger spider emblem on the chest, giving it a distinct anime-inspired look. Both costumes are added to the selection screen after installing the update, which is live this week.

PS5 Pro enhancements: Enhanced PSSR and Power Saver mode
Beyond new outfits, the update brings Enhanced PSSR support for PS5 Pro, utilizing advanced upscaling to deliver a sharper 4K 60fps experience with improved lighting. Already visually impressive at launch, the game now looks even better on high-end displays. A Power Saver mode has also been added, reducing console energy consumption during idle moments.
No post-launch expansions, but Wolverine on the horizon
Unlike its predecessor, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received no story expansions post-release. Insomniac Games instead focused on Marvel's Wolverine, a single-player title launching September 15 on PS5. The game promises a grittier, more violent take on the clawed mutant within the same universe as the Spider-Man hits.
