Siri AI opens to all developers with the iOS 27.3 Developer Preview

On November 3, 2026, Apple opened Siri AI to all developers, with a Developer Preview included in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas. Every app can now bring content and actions into the new assistant through App Intents. For app developers, that means reaching customers who ask for things by voice, in their own words. But in Europe the service is not yet available on iPhone and iPad.

A few terms before we get into the facts. Siri AI is the new version of Apple's assistant, more conversational and personal. App Intents is the framework through which an app exposes actions and content to the system. Skills are instructions that teach Siri AI to combine several actions into a single experience. Spotlight semantic index is the system index where Siri AI searches for entities. Developer Preview is early access, designed for testing and feedback before launch.

What did Apple announce for developers?

According to the official Apple announcement, the preview lets any app bring content and actions into Siri AI with App Intents. The assistant can thus draw on understanding of personal context, awareness of what is on screen and natural language.

Apple cites examples such as tracking a delivery, booking a table or placing an order. Siri AI carries out the custom actions the developer has built. For complex requests come skills, and Siri AI can now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not only those that fit an existing schema.

What can Siri AI already do in Apple's apps?

The new capabilities are already in Apple's own apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather. Apple gives the example of finding a bar visited the week before or archiving files not opened in over a year.

According to MacRumors, in Mail the assistant can unsubscribe from mailing lists and cancel the sending of recent messages. In Safari it can clear history, manage tabs and windows and close duplicate tabs. These are useful examples of the kind of actions your app could offer too.

When does it arrive and in which languages?

Apple speaks of a first delivery to customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in spring. The stable version of iOS 27.3 is expected in December, according to HDblog, although Apple has not given a precise date. Those who want to understand the release rhythm can read our note on the first iOS 27.3 beta.

As for languages, 9to5Mac counts ten languages in total, including Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese. Italian is not among them.

Is Siri AI available in Europe?

Only in part. Apple says Siri AI is not available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS and that it is working constructively with the EU to find a way forward. Punto Informatico specifies that it remains available on macOS and visionOS.

A device with Apple Intelligence and a supported language are also required. The service is not for under-13s. Features that use models on servers have daily limits, and Apple says extended access will be paid in the future.

In the same beta cycle Apple is bringing Apple Intelligence to China, but with original features and without Siri AI, as we explain in this in-depth piece.

Limits to know

The preview is a beta and Apple has not yet published the terms and usage policies for experiences powered by Siri AI. It promises details soon. Daily limits also remain open, as they may vary by feature, complexity and system load, and so does the price of extended access. We do not know when Europe will be covered on iPhone and iPad.

What changes for those working in digital

If you develop apps for iOS, it is worth understanding now which actions in your app make sense when spoken aloud, such as order status, bookings or searches. The work runs through App Intents, so you need to organize your code into clear, reusable actions. If your app is built with a cross-platform framework, check how it handles these native entry points, perhaps by reading our guide on Flutter for iOS and Android. If you need a partner to design them instead, see our iOS and Android app development service.

Our take

Opening it up is the right move, because a useful assistant is worth only as much as the apps it can use. But Apple is asking developers to invest before the rules are written. Terms of use, daily limits and paid access all affect the real cost of every request, and none of them are clear yet. The European block on iPhone and iPad weighs on those working in Italy, where the language is also missing. We will experiment, but we won't build commercial plans before spring.

Terms, App Store and Europe, what to watch until spring

The picture will be complete when Apple publishes the rules and opens app submissions. Until then, the preview is for testing, not for making promises.

  • Read the terms and usage policies for Siri AI as soon as Apple publishes them, especially the daily limits.
  • Follow the opening of App Store submissions in spring and the date of the stable December release.
  • Check whether Apple announces availability in the EU and in Italian before planning launches for European customers.
