During the latest investor call for Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Grand Theft Auto 6, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the future of artificial intelligence in game development. While acknowledging that even his company will use AI, Zelnick reiterated his belief that the emerging technology won't replace anyone.
AI as a tool to enhance human creativity
“Those AI tools are not going to replace anyone,” said Zelnick, emphasizing that the company's approach focuses on creating entertainment rather than leading with technology. He further explained that “the first of our core pillars is creativity” and that the 13,000 colleagues worldwide are mostly creative people every day. According to the CEO, technology can enhance their creativity but cannot and should not replace it.

Game quality will increase significantly
Zelnick added that he doesn't believe using AI will significantly lower development costs, but it could “meaningfully increase the quality” of games. His remarks echo previous statements, such as during a 2025 investor call, when he assured that Take-Two would not use AI as an excuse to lay off employees. The company's stance remains to integrate AI as a support to human work, not a substitute.
GTA 6 confirmed for November 19 with no delays
In addition to his AI comments, Zelnick reassured investors that GTA 6 has not been delayed from its launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, scheduled for November 19. Unsurprisingly, the CEO predicts that GTA 6 will carry the company through a very profitable fiscal year. He also claimed that GTA 6 preorders are “unprecedented,” and it may be the most in-demand game the industry has ever seen.

This confidence in the product comes amid rapid AI advancements, but companies like Take-Two choose to bet on the human element. In an industry where technology evolves quickly, as demonstrated by recent hardware innovations like Ohsnap's MagSafe iPhone controllers, creativity remains the key differentiator. Take-Two's strategy could thus serve as a model for balancing innovation and human resources.
