Android, November 2026 security update with 149 flaws according to ACN and 216 per Cybersecurity360

Google has published the Android security bulletin for November 2026, and the sources do not agree on the count. Italy's National Cybersecurity Agency reports 149 vulnerabilities, while Cybersecurity360 counts 216. Among the fixes is a flaw that can be exploited without any user click, and one, CVE-2026-58882, for which a Proof of Concept is already circulating online. If you manage company phones, checking the patch level is the first thing to do.

A few terms before we get into the facts. CVE is the code that identifies a known vulnerability. Proof of Concept (PoC) is demonstration code that shows the flaw can actually be exploited. Denial of Service refers to an attack that makes a service unavailable. Remote Code Execution means running code on the device from a remote location. SVE is the identifier Samsung uses for flaws specific to its Galaxy devices.

What does the November 2026 Android bulletin contain?

According to the ACN alert AL02/261103/CSIRT-ITA, Google fixed 149 vulnerabilities, 12 of them critical and 137 rated high severity. The types include remote code execution, privilege escalation, denial of service and information disclosure.

For Cybersecurity360, the bulletin published on November 2 instead lists 216 CVEs, 23 of them critical. The most serious issue is a vulnerability in the Android Framework that may allow code execution without interaction.

Why don't the numbers match?

The sources do not explain the difference. Cybersecurity360 specifies that its figure counts the CVEs listed in the bulletin tables, while the ACN alert reports a summary figure. It may come down to how entries are counted, but that is our hypothesis, not a verified fact.

SamMobile gives a third number, with 155 fixes from Google and 20 critical. The advice is not to stop at the total, but to look at the patch level installed.

What is the SMS of Death flaw?

ACN flags CVE-2026-58882, a Denial of Service issue known as «SMS of Death». It affects the WapPushOverSms component and the decodeWapPdu function, which does not properly validate the parameters of WAP Push messages.

A specially crafted SMS, with no interaction from the victim, could block the com.android.phone process. According to ACN, this would compromise the cellular network, including emergency calls, and in some cases cause repeated reboots. We covered it in a dedicated in-depth piece.

What changes for Samsung Galaxy devices?

According to SamMobile, Samsung's November patch fixes more than 160 flaws, including 24 specific to Galaxy devices. Of these, 17 have been made public and seven remain restricted. The fixes cover Exynos chipsets, the bootloader, the lock screen, SIM lock, Dialer, Contacts and Messages.

Samsung should roll it out in the coming days. The release comes as One UI 9.0 spreads across most compatible models.

Limits to know

The vulnerability counts differ across the three sources, and none of them explains why. We do not have the technical details of the click-free flaw in the Framework. From the ACN alert we only know that the PoC for CVE-2026-58882 is online, not whether it is already being exploited. The arrival dates of updates depend on each manufacturer.

What changes for those working in digital

For those managing smartphone fleets, the reference is patch level 2026-11-05 or later, as indicated by Cybersecurity360. The versions affected according to ACN are Android 14, 15, 16, 16-qpr2 and 17 with patches prior to November. Fragmented distribution matters here, as shown by the figure for Android 17 stuck at 1%. If you develop business apps, building security into your processes helps you react quickly.

Our take

The monthly bulletin has become a routine, but the real problem is the gap between Google's fix and the phone in your pocket. A flaw triggered by an SMS, with no one touching anything, makes that delay harder to accept. Companies should treat patch level as a metric to monitor, not as a detail left to the user. It is also striking that the official counts diverge so much.
